It poses a huge challenge to those of us who were raised in modern feminist America, but it’s a mental shift that is needed. The book doesn’t dumb-down the truth or theology behind Christian patriarchy. It’s well-researched and well-cited. We are already seeing the fruits of the book positively impact our marriage and family. I would encourage anyone to read this book with an open mind. There is no Christian feminism, and that’s okay! Gordon cites the Holy Bible, St. Jerome, St. John Chrysostom, St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, The Roman Catechism, Ven. Fulton Sheen, Leo XIII, Benedict XV, Ven. Pius XII, St. John XXIII, & even St. John Paul II to argue his points. The author also makes use of Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, Tocqueville, & Nietzsche's works. When it was advertised on YouTube in Hold My Beer, The Case for Patriarchy, I should have realized what I was going to find. In this video, the author crowed about how great his own work was, and then asked viewers to write glowingly in the comments to prove that he wasn't simply flexing when he said those things. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Al -- A Book For Our Time : A must read on the topic. Tim provides an insight other authors on the topic of feminism just don't voice. The very first section on wife as boss is so relatable to a global audience. He also describes the steps of a color revolution and provides examples of how modern feminism has influenced our contemporary culture including sports and the two income trap. I've only read chapter 1 as of right now, but in his thesis he provides a clear diagnosis and solution to the social issues that have arisen in the past 60 years. Excited to read the rest of it including the central role of patriarchy for Christianity and the historiographical overview of the origins of feminism. ( Reviewed in Canada on September 30, 2021 )
